Don’t overlook the simple blog!

Blogging can be a simple and easy way for a business that is already online or planning to go online to engage its customers. It is relatively easy to set up, inexpensive to run and has a host of advantages.

The opportunity for clients to directly interact with your client’s company can build repeat visitors and reinforce brand loyalty.

Firstly the blog needs to be relevant to the business product or service and not contain any discussions that will adversely affect what you are trying to promote. In saying that it can’t be a blatant advertorial either or it will not organically grow into a discussion.

Secondly the blog needs to be administered and monitored by the business to avoid any unwanted, damaging or unrelated posts or comments that would devalue the site or upset other users.

How a blog help your client’s brand:

  1. A well written blog can help with search engine visibility. It ensures that there is always fresh content with relevant keywords on the site.
  2. Customers feel they have a direct influence which increases their brand loyalty.
  3. Allows you to receive valuable feedback on products and services directly from your customers that you would otherwise have to research independently.
  4. Gives customers a reason to come back to see how their product or service is advancing and to get insight from the people involved with it.
  5. Customers can receive updates to the blog or replies to their comments via a news feed (RSS).

Best of all, a blog is not a complex addition to a site already based on a CMS like ExpressionEngine. It can be added during development or at a later stage and can be easily controlled and moderated by the administrator.
