Newsletter Sign Up and Login Sections

###Hiding and Sliding Panels

How much room do the login in or newsletter sign up sections on the sites your design take up? Often they have their own little section, which is fine if they are critical to the site. However often they are secondary to the site and not the essence of it and in this case they can take up valuable real estate.

One option you can employ is to have the ‘sign up’ or ‘login’ boxes hidden until someone clicks on them. Using some javascript, it can be hidden away and then revealed when a login or sign-up button is clicked. This means that while the user can easily access this section, it doesn’t distract from other, maybe more critical design features.

The advantage here is that the user doesn’t have to navigate away from the page they are on and it looks a bit more polished!
